About Us
Raino is the son of a Finnish carpenter. He became a finish carpenter and moved to the Twin Cities area in 1983 with his wife, Sarah, and a growing family and started his construction company as a sole proprietor. He formally established Niemela Construction in 1986 as a residential carpentry subcontractor, became licensed as a general contractor in 1992, and incorporated in 1994. He has worked as a project manager, general contractor, and carpentry subcontractor with architects, decorators, other contractors and homeowners to build and remodel houses, and to make them home.
Bob began helping his dad at a young age and joined the company's carpentry ranks in 1997. He graduated from Metropolitan State University in 2001 and has stayed on to help Raino with the family business. Bob is responsible for estimating, scheduling, and tracking projects. As a result, on most days he works alongside staff carpenters to stay in tune with client needs and, well, because it's just fun.
